The Nebraska Clarinet Camp
is an event targeted for middle school and high school clarinet students. Director Jessica Lindsey is the clarinet instructor at Concordia University and Doane College in Southeast Nebraska. In addition to performing in local music ensembles such as the New Music Agency, Third Chair Chamber Players and the Lincoln Municipal Band, she maintains a private clarinet studio in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ms. Lindsey is both the director and an instructor for the Nebraska Clarinet Camp. The camp features a clarinet guest artist each year. “I think students will enjoy the variety of activities throughout the day,” explains camp director Jessica Lindsey.
The Nebraska Clarinet Camp includes opportunities for students to participate individually in performance classes, where they prepare a solo and play it for the guest artist and Ms. Lindsey. Throughout the day, students participate in group lessons and lectures, working with a number of different teachers in small groups on specific clarinet subjects. “Group lessons are interactive sessions between teachers and students, where students have the opportunities to participate and ‘try out’ the ‘lecture’ material the teacher is proclaiming,” explains Lindsey. The camp includes a student clarinet ensemble that gives a concert to conclude the camp.
Ms. Lindsey founded the first annual Nebraska Clarinet Camp in the summer of 2007. She continues to host the camp each summer, so follow the links below to find information for the current year.
